We last minute decided to book a table mid-week at the Steenberg Hussar Grill and had the most amazing time! We ordered the Prawn & Avocado cocktail for starters, Lamb Shank for mains & the Chocolate Vodka Martini for dessert! The service was excellent and the food absolutely delicious! We will definitely be going back again!

Have been disappointed with this upmarket restaurant previously but decided to give it one more try as it is the closest to home and to finish the remaining amount on my gift voucher. Restaurant was very quiet and we had a large choice of tables. Waiter was very helpful but obviously quite new. My meal of Fillet Steak Bernaise, medium rare, was good but more Medium than rare. Bernaise sauce was good and the fries were excellent. Served on a warm plate and meal was cold by the time I finished. Comparing this to our favourite restaurant (Acapulco Spur which is part of your group) Steenberg came off badly, because at Acapulco my steak is always perfectly cooked and served on a HOT plate/skillet. My wife asked our waiter if the Pork Belly was served with Apple Sauce. He did not know but did go and check, returning to tell her that it was. Because of this she ordered the belly pork instead of oxtail. (She feels that pork served without apple sauce is not acceptable). On arrival of her meal there was no apple sauce , (waiter checked and returned to say that it was not available), the crackling on top of the meat was cremated and was sent back, the Roast vegetables were not roasted and not hot, the main meat was excellent and the jacket potatoes were good. The replacement crackling was like shoe leather apparently. Very disappointing for an UPMARKET restaurant and definitely our last visit to this particular one. There was also a used napkin underneath the bench seat between the two tables which is why I gave it a 4 for cleanliness.
